Spenard

The name comes from Joe Spenard, who developed a resort on Lake Spenard in 1916, according to Visit Anchorage. The north end of Spenard Road has a renovated pedestrian area with small shops and family restaurants, and Lake Hood and Lake Spenard are popular for watching planes.
